The Secrets of the Rose
In the present day, Hannah becomes drawn to a mystery connected with an old rose and a family secret rooted in Northumberland. The historical strand returns to 1715, when Dorothy Forster and those around Bamburgh are caught in the Jacobite rising and must choose between loyalty, love and survival. Cornick links the two periods through concealed evidence and inherited memory, using the failed rebellion to drive a dual-timeline story about what families preserve and what they choose to hide.
