The Predicament
Gabriel Dax has returned to travel writing after his first encounters with British intelligence, but his connection to MI6 officer Faith Green proves difficult to escape. An assignment sends him to Guatemala during a volatile presidential election, where organised crime, political violence and American intelligence interests make his cover as a journalist increasingly precarious.
The trail leads onward to West Berlin and a conspiracy centred on the young American president, John F. Kennedy. Gabriel is again forced to decide how much he can trust Faith, the agencies around her and his own reading of apparently accidental events. The second Gabriel Dax novel widens the Cold War setting while keeping its reluctant spy caught between professional curiosity and the consequences of knowing too much.
