Set has removed Ra from the sky, trapped the other gods and plunged Egypt into an unnatural night. Ash, Prince Khufu, Seret, Gilli, Thea and Iset must enter the Duat, the Egyptian underworld, to find the missing sun god and restore light to the kingdom. Their route leads through successive gates guarded by demons, riddles and magical obstacles as the power of chaos spreads above them.
The journey turns the second Shadow Prince adventure into a mythological quest rather than a court competition. Its underworld imagery draws on Egyptian religious traditions, while the continuing presence of Khufu keeps the story anchored to the series’ alternate Fourth Dynasty setting. The final danger is Apep, the great serpent associated with darkness and the destruction of cosmic order.
