Leading Lives Che Guevara
This biography traces Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara from his upbringing in Argentina and medical training through the journeys across Latin America that sharpened his political radicalism. It follows his meeting with Fidel Castro, his role as a guerrilla commander in the Cuban Revolution and his subsequent work in the new revolutionary government.
The later chapters examine Guevara’s attempts to promote armed revolution beyond Cuba, including his involvement in the Congo and the failed guerrilla campaign in Bolivia that ended with his capture and execution in 1967. The book considers both his historical actions and the political image that made him an enduring international symbol.
