Battle of Kadesh

The Battle of Kadesh was fought between Ramesses II of Egypt and the Hittite Empire near the city of Kadesh in Syria. It is one of the best-known Bronze Age battles because Egyptian inscriptions presented it in vivid royal terms. The battle involved chariot forces, surprise, confusion and competing claims about victory.

Kadesh matters because it shows Egypt and the Hittites struggling for influence in the Levant.
