The Tree of Life

At Abydos, the sacred acacia associated with Osiris is failing, and the sickness of the Tree of Life threatens the spiritual balance of Egypt. The young scribe Iker is drawn into the danger surrounding the sanctuary while Pharaoh Senusret III faces enemies who understand the power of ritual as well as politics. The novel opens the series by bringing together temple mystery, court suspicion and the problem of preserving Ma’at when sacred order appears to be dying.
