Reign of Senusret III

Senusret III was a major pharaoh of the Twelfth Dynasty, remembered for strong kingship, southern campaigns, fortifications in Nubia and a distinctive royal image. His reign belongs to the mature Middle Kingdom, when royal power was closely linked to administration, military security and the maintenance of sacred order.

The reign mattered because it gave Egypt an unusually forceful model of kingship before the later imperial age of the New Kingdom. Royal authority, scribal government, border policy and religious patronage all helped define the period.
