Liars and Thieves
First published 2014
England, 1348. Camelot, Narigorm and the travelling company are still trying to outrun the plague when they meet a band of outlaws taking advantage of the breakdown of law and order. Theft and violence have become easier in a countryside where communities are frightened, roads are dangerous and authority is weakening.
The encounter brings the company’s own deceptions back into focus, especially the disturbing gifts of the young rune-reader Narigorm. This short companion story returns to the world of Company of Liars and concentrates its plague-era atmosphere into a compact tale of robbery, survival and the dangers carried by people as well as disease.
