Berlin, 1930. When Moses is also seized, the pair suspect that the theft accusation is concealing something more serious.

Set shortly after Operation Berlin, the novella extends Archie and Esme’s first period in the German capital with a compact investigation shaped by rare books, wrongful accusation and the increasingly hostile atmosphere of late-Weimar Berlin. It belongs between Operation Berlin and Operation Vienna in the series chronology.
