Operation Berlin
First published 2026
Berlin, 1930. Great War veteran and historian Archie Laverick arrives to research Prussian general Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher and hires ambitious American journalist Esme Carmichael to assist him. Their work is interrupted when a shooting at a Saxon castle leaves a young Jewish woman accused of murder, and the pair begin testing a case the authorities are ready to close.
The investigation moves through aristocratic houses, newspapers and a capital under mounting political pressure. As Nazi influence grows and the Weimar political order becomes more unstable, Ridpath uses the murder mystery to place Archie and Esme inside a society whose future the reader knows but the characters do not.
