Book
Gettysburg
The first volume of the alternate-history trilogy returns to the Gettysburg campaign of 1863 and changes its decisive choices. Robert E. Lee and the Army of Northern Virginia are given a path to victory, while Union commanders struggle to respond to a battle that no longer unfolds as history records it. Familiar terrain and real commanders become the starting point for a different Civil War.
Rather than treating the changed outcome as a simple reversal, the novel follows the consequences through command decisions, troop movements and political pressure. Lee, George Meade, James Longstreet, Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain and Daniel Sickles are portrayed within a carefully constructed counterfactual campaign whose result leaves Washington exposed and the Union facing a far more dangerous strategic crisis.
