John Locke

John Locke was an English philosopher and physician whose later writings became foundational to empiricism and political liberalism.

Before his major philosophical works, Locke studied medicine and natural philosophy at Oxford and worked with physicians including Thomas Willis and Richard Lower. An Instance of the Fingerpost presents him within this early experimental and medical circle.
