Down the Long Wind

Down the Long Wind retells the Arthurian story through Gwalchmai, the Welsh hero later known as Gawain. Raised by the sorceress Morgawse in the Orcades, he rejects the power she offers and joins his uncle Arthur, whose attempt to unite post-Roman Britain depends on warriors choosing loyalty and restraint over feud, ambition and inherited hatred.

The trilogy follows Gwalchmai from uncertain youth to Arthur’s foremost champion, then shifts its perspective to his servant Rhys and finally Queen Gwynhwyfar. Magic remains present but restrained, while the larger story moves through love, penance, dynastic rivalry and Medraut’s destruction of Arthur’s fragile kingdom.
