The Redemption of Alexander Seaton

Banff, 1626. Alexander Seaton, a disgraced former minister now working as an assistant schoolmaster, encounters a young man collapsing in the street during a storm. By morning the victim has died from poison and his body has been placed inside Seaton’s schoolroom, making Alexander both a witness and an obvious suspect.

To learn why the local apothecary’s nephew was killed, Alexander must question merchants, church elders, scholars and former friends who know the circumstances of his fall. The investigation forces him back into the religious and personal conflicts he has tried to escape, while the murderer uses his damaged reputation to conceal a more deliberate plan.
