When the young man’s companion is found injured and a woman’s frozen body is discovered in a private garden, the town assumes the missing student has fled after committing murder.
Alexander believes the deaths and disappearance are connected to the recruiters rather than a simple brawl. A cloaked observer from his own past draws him into a scheme that exploits young men seeking military service, and the investigation threatens his household as old betrayals return with consequences he can no longer contain.
