The Laughter of Dead Kings

The mummy of Tutankhamun is stolen from the Valley of the Kings, and suspicion immediately falls on John Smythe because of his history as an art thief. Although he insists that he has retired, Vicky cannot clear him without finding both the mummy and the group capable of removing one of Egypt’s most closely guarded antiquities.

Pursued by Interpol, Egyptian police, rival traffickers and Vicky’s irrepressible museum director, Vicky and John move between Europe and Egypt following the theft’s logistical and financial trail. Their attempt to recover the mummy becomes a final test of John’s reformation and of the trust on which their relationship depends.
