The New World Saga

The New World Saga follows the Washington family and a wider cast of soldiers, traders, settlers, Indigenous diplomats, servants and political agents through the imperial wars that reshaped eighteenth-century North America. It begins with Lawrence Washington’s service in the War of Jenkins’ Ear, then turns to the young George Washington as British and French competition for the Ohio Country develops into the French and Indian War. The series treats the future founding father first as a colonial Virginian seeking status inside the British Empire rather than as an inevitable revolutionary.

Rule Britannia reconstructs the failed 1741 expedition against Cartagena and the ambitions that shaped Lawrence Washington. Rivers Run Deep follows George’s emergence through surveying, land claims and frontier diplomacy, while New World Order examines the arrival of British regular forces and the widening conflict after 1754. Across the three novels, private advancement and family loyalty are set against Indigenous dispossession, slavery, imperial rivalry and the growing disagreements between Britain and its mainland colonies.
