Battle of Nedao

After Attila died in 453, his sons attempted to divide and preserve the Hunnic Empire. Ardaric, king of the Gepids, led a coalition of Germanic peoples that rejected continued Hunnic domination.

The opposing forces met near the unidentified River Nedao in 454. The coalition victory killed Attila’s son Ellac and shattered the political system that had held the subject kingdoms together.
