Amarpal Singh is a British-Indian military historian and author whose work focuses on warfare in nineteenth-century India. Born in Punjab, he spent more than twenty years working in the software industry before pursuing his interest in military history, battlefield research and the conflicts that shaped the British Raj. He has also contributed to television and radio documentaries and has spoken about military history at museums and institutions in the United Kingdom.
Singh is best known for The First Anglo-Sikh War and The Second Anglo-Sikh War, detailed studies of the campaigns that brought the Sikh Empire into conflict with the British East India Company. He has also written The Siege of Delhi, examining one of the central episodes of the Indian Rebellion of 1857. His books combine battlefield exploration, contemporary testimony and military analysis to present the strategy, political intrigue and human cost of these conflicts.
