A River of Blood Duology

A River of Blood Duology follows Samuel, a Jewish physician and investigator, and his English apprentice Gregory through Egypt and Palestine in 1099. A River of Blood begins with poisoned-looking waters and ritualised murders in Fatimid Cairo; A Sea of Tears continues the investigation as the companions travel toward Jerusalem while crusading armies close on the city.

Across the two novels, forensic observation and medical knowledge confront political secrecy, religious violence and the machinery of war. The sequence moves between Jewish, Muslim and Christian communities and combines historical mystery, espionage and survival with the upheaval of the First Crusade. Its central pursuit of a hunted mother and child links the Cairo murders to a conspiracy whose consequences could alter the balance of power.
