Historical person

Sidney Reilly

1873–1925

Sidney Reilly was a Russian-born adventurer and intelligence agent who worked for British services before and after the First World War. His missions, business schemes and anti-Bolshevik plots made him a model for the modern ‘master spy’, but much of his reputation was enlarged by his own inventions and later legend.

In non-fiction, Sidney Reilly is discussed in Giles Milton’s Russian Roulette. In Giles Milton’s Russian Roulette, Giles Milton follows agents and adventurers including R. H. Bruce Lockhart and Sidney Reilly as they attempted to understand, influence and sometimes overthrow the new regime.
