Marjorie Bruce was the daughter of Robert the Bruce and the mother of the future Robert II, first king of the Stewart dynasty. Captured by the English in 1306, she was held for years before being released after Bannockburn.
Her marriage to Walter Stewart united the Bruce and Stewart lines. Although she died before her father, her son’s accession in 1371 made her a crucial dynastic link in Scottish royal history.
