John Robinson

John Robinson was an English minister who joined the Separatist congregation associated with Scrooby after refusing conformity to the Church of England. Persecution helped drive the group to the Dutch Republic in 1608, first to Amsterdam and then to Leiden, where Robinson became pastor and an influential theological writer.
