Historical person
George Dunbar, 10th Earl of March
George Dunbar, 10th Earl of March, was a powerful Scottish border lord whose family controlled extensive lands around Dunbar. After a dispute with Robert III over a broken marriage agreement, he transferred his allegiance to Henry IV of England.
Dunbar fought against the Scots at Homildon Hill and became deeply involved in Anglo-Scottish border warfare. He was later reconciled with the Scottish crown and recovered part of his position, but his defection damaged his dynasty’s long-term security.
