Victory at Yorktown

By 1781 the American Revolution has become a war of endurance. When news arrives that a French fleet can operate in the Chesapeake and Charles Cornwallis has concentrated his army at Yorktown, George Washington sees a rare chance to force a decisive result. He and Rochambeau conceal their intentions, march the allied army south and attempt to trap the British before the naval opportunity disappears.

The campaign brings together the fragile partnership of American and French forces on land and at sea. Washington, Lafayette, Rochambeau and Admiral de Grasse must coordinate armies, siege works and naval power while Cornwallis waits for relief that may never arrive. The novel follows the manoeuvre and siege that culminated in the British surrender at Yorktown and transformed the political prospects of American independence.
