Uprising
First published 2025
Summer 1067. Oslac’s private feud with Gundulf remains unresolved after the Danish lord escapes custody at Bebbanburh, and an attempted assassination convinces Oslac that the conflict will end only with one of them dead. He pursues Gundulf into the northern hills while the political settlement imposed by William the Conqueror continues to unsettle Northumbria and dispossess established English families.
The personal pursuit is overtaken by a wider uprising against Norman authority. Oslac must again choose between vengeance and obligations to his kin and countrymen as resistance gathers among the surviving northern lords. The second Rebellion novel keeps its fictional feud at the centre of the action while using the unstable Northumbrian succession and resistance to William’s rule as its historical framework.
