Book
The Little Walls
First published 1955
Philip Turner travels to Amsterdam after refusing to accept that his brother Grevil, an archaeologist, died by suicide. His investigation moves through official explanations, private grief and suspicious relationships before widening beyond Amsterdam into a darker European crime story.
The book is crime fiction rather than historical fiction, although its postwar European setting gives it period atmosphere. I have not attached historical-context links because the plot is not centred on a defined historical event, war, reign or movement in the current context catalogue.
