The Berlin Agent

England, 1940. With France defeated and the threat of invasion hanging over southern Britain, John Cook and Lady Margaret continue preparing for the moment when their secret resistance orders may be activated. During an air raid a parachutist drops from a German aircraft, leaving behind a white canopy and a crate containing unfamiliar equipment—but no sign of the man who landed with it.

Reports of German voices in the countryside suggest that the missing parachutist may be part of a wider operation. Cook and Margaret are drawn into a hunt for an enemy agent while bombers cross the skies and Britain braces for attack. The novel combines the real atmosphere of invasion anxiety and clandestine defence preparations with a cat-and-mouse espionage story played out across rural England.
