Partition of Triparadisus

The Partition of Triparadisus followed the breakdown of the first settlement made after Alexander the Great’s death. The regency, command of the royal army and distribution of satrapies were renegotiated after conflict among Perdiccas, Ptolemy and the other leading Macedonian commanders.

The settlement mattered because it confirmed that Alexander’s empire could not be governed by a simple continuation of his command structure. Offices changed hands, alliances shifted and the two royal heirs remained politically useful but personally vulnerable.

For historical fiction, Triparadisus gives the Wars of the Diadochi a precise political setting in which personal rivalry becomes constitutional crisis. Robert Fabbri’s Alexander’s Legacy novels use this world of regents, generals, royal women and threatened heirs to show how the empire’s unity gives way to competing territorial ambitions.
