Twenty-Fifth Dynasty of Egypt

The Twenty-Fifth Dynasty was founded by rulers from Kush, with Piye’s conquest of Egypt creating a dynasty that linked Napata, Thebes and the wider Nile Valley. These kings presented themselves as legitimate pharaohs and patrons of Amun rather than as temporary occupiers.

The dynasty mattered because it restored a form of Egyptian unity while also showing the deep connection between Egypt and Nubia. Kushite rulers used temple patronage, royal titulary and military power to claim continuity with pharaonic tradition.
