Gian Galeazzo Visconti

1351–1402

Gian Galeazzo Visconti was the first duke of Milan and one of the most ambitious rulers of late medieval Italy. He expanded Visconti power across northern and central Italy through war, diplomacy and marriage, nearly creating a dominant Italian state before his death.
