Diogenes Laertius was a Greek biographical writer whose Lives and Opinions of Eminent Philosophers preserves traditions about ancient philosophers.
Diogenes Laertius compiled accounts of Greek philosophers, their schools, sayings, writings and deaths. His work is uneven but invaluable because it preserves material about many thinkers and texts that would otherwise be lost.
