Palermo and Naples, 1633. Giulia’s desire for revenge competes with the need to understand what her mother was really doing and why women sought her remedies. Inspired by the stories surrounding the historical Giulia Tofana, the novel mixes crime, romance and survival while treating the famous Aqua Tofana tradition as part history, part contested legend.
