Reginald Victor Jones
1911–1997
Reginald Victor Jones was a British physicist who became one of the central figures in scientific intelligence during the Second World War. His work analysed German radio-navigation and radar systems and helped British planners understand the technological contest underlying the air war.
Jones identified the intelligence value of obtaining physical components of the German Würzburg radar, helping to set in motion the Bruneval raid of February 1942. Max Hastings’s Operation Biting places Jones’s scientific intelligence work alongside the airborne and naval planning that made the raid possible. The book is nonfiction.
