Harald Wartooth, or Haraldr Hilditönn, is a legendary Danish king known from later Scandinavian saga traditions rather than contemporary historical records. The stories place him in the eighth century and connect him with wide-ranging rule, warfare and the great Battle of Bråvellir.
Because the sources were written centuries after the period they describe, historians cannot establish Harald’s life or even his existence with confidence. Harald Wartooth is important as a major figure of Scandinavian legendary history and as one of the rulers traditionally associated with the Battle of Bråvellir.
