Tracie Peterson is an American author of Christian historical romance whose novels emphasise faith, perseverance, family and reconciliation. A Kansas native who now lives in Montana, she began her publishing career with A Place to Belong in 1993 and has since written more than 110 books, most of them historical. Peterson also worked as managing editor of Barbour Publishing’s Heartsong Presents line before writing exclusively for Bethany House. Her long career has brought ECPA, CBA and USA Today bestseller recognition, as well as lifetime and career achievement awards from organisations associated with Christian and romantic fiction.

Peterson’s historical novels are set largely in nineteenth- and early twentieth-century America, with recurring settings including Alaska, Montana, Texas, Oregon, Minnesota, New Mexico and the Pacific Northwest. The Yukon Quest trilogy begins with Treasures of the North, while the Heirs of Montana series follows settlers building new lives in the American West. The Bells of Lowell books, co-written with Judith Miller, explore women’s lives within the textile mills of nineteenth-century Massachusetts, and the Heart of the Frontier series places its heroines amid migration and conflict in early Oregon. Other major series include Alaskan Quest, Ladies of Liberty, Land of the Lone Star, Willamette Brides, Treasures of Nome and Hope of Cheyenne. Across these books, Peterson combines romance and frontier adventure with Christian themes, usually focusing on women confronting hardship, social restrictions and difficult moral choices.
