Zheng Keshuang was the final ruler of the Zheng regime in Taiwan. He succeeded as a child amid factional conflict and surrendered to the Qing after Shi Lang’s naval victory in 1683.
Zheng Keshuang inherited the Kingdom of Tungning on Taiwan as a child after the death of his father Zheng Jing. Following Shi Lang’s victory at Penghu in 1683, he surrendered to the Qing dynasty, ending the Zheng regime and bringing Taiwan under Qing control.
In Jin Yong’s The Deer and the Cauldron: Book 3, Trinket promotes the admiral Shi Lang, encounters Zheng Keshuang and becomes entangled with the Russian regent Sophia before serving in the negotiations associated with the Treaty of Nerchinsk.
