Jeanne d'Albret was queen of Navarre and a major political and religious leader of the French Huguenot cause.
Jeanne converted publicly to Calvinism, established Protestant worship in her territories and supported Huguenot armies during the French Wars of Religion. She negotiated the marriage of her son Henry of Navarre to Margaret of Valois but died shortly before the wedding in 1572.
