Colin Roy Campbell of Glenure was a Crown factor on forfeited Highland estates who was shot and killed near Ballachulish on 14 May 1752. His assassination became known as the Appin Murder and led to the prosecution and execution of James Stewart of the Glen.
As government factor on forfeited Jacobite estates, Campbell supervised rents and evictions in Appin after the 1745 rising; his assassination in 1752 triggered the controversial prosecution and execution of James Stewart of the Glens.
