Mongol Invasion of Central Europe

After the conquest of the Rus lands, Mongol armies advanced in several coordinated columns into Poland, Hungary and neighbouring territories. Batu Khan held overall authority while Subutai directed much of the strategic planning.

European forces were defeated at Legnica and Mohi, after which Mongol detachments campaigned across Hungary, Croatia and Dalmatia. The invaders withdrew in 1242 amid political, strategic and environmental pressures.
