German Occupation of Denmark

1940–1945 CE

German forces invaded Denmark on 9 April 1940. The Danish government initially remained in office under occupation, preserving limited domestic authority while cooperating under pressure.

Political conditions hardened as sabotage and public resistance increased. In 1943 the government resigned, martial law followed and underground activity expanded.

Hornet Flight is set in occupied Denmark and uses the tension between accommodation, police collaboration and resistance as its political background.
