The Faringdon Scandals

The Faringdon Scandals follows three members of an aristocratic family whose private lives are repeatedly unsettled by disputed marriages, concealed identities and inherited secrets. Set from 1816 to 1819, the sequence moves between country estates, the London Season and post-Napoleonic Paris. Each novel centres on a different Faringdon man and the woman whose position becomes entangled with his, while earlier family decisions continue to shape questions of legitimacy, property and reputation.

The trilogy combines Regency romance with family intrigue and the legal vulnerability created by marriage and inheritance. Widows, debutantes, servants and noblemen must act within a society where scandal can determine a child’s future, a woman’s security or a family’s public standing. The final novel broadens the sequence into political espionage, but the central concern remains the same: whether trust and affection can survive when social duty rewards secrecy.
