The Colorado Cowboys series follows the McQuaid siblings as they build new lives in the mining and ranching country around Fairplay, Colorado, after the Civil War. Mail-order marriage, cattle drives, scientific exploration, law enforcement and the struggle to control land bring each member of the family into danger while the developing territory demands resilience and cooperation.

Across five connected romances, war trauma and family estrangement are answered by responsibility, forgiveness and renewed faith. The series uses the practical work of ranches, trails, midwifery and frontier justice to show how permanent communities grow from people willing to protect one another rather than pursue independence at any cost.
