Bonnets and Bugles

Bonnets and Bugles follows the Carter and Majors families through the American Civil War, beginning with the shock of Bull Run and continuing through blockade running, Gettysburg, Chattanooga, Cold Harbor, Atlanta and the war’s aftermath. Young people separated by allegiance and military service repeatedly confront the consequences of a conflict that divides friends as well as nations.

Written for younger readers, the series combines battlefield adventure, romance and coming-of-age fiction with a Christian emphasis on courage, forgiveness and reconciliation. Its protagonists encounter major campaigns through fictional family stories rather than serving as substitutes for a complete military history.
