Vytautas the Great was grand duke of Lithuania from 1392 to 1430 and one of the most powerful rulers in eastern Europe. He expanded Lithuanian influence, cooperated and competed with his cousin Władysław II Jagiełło, and helped lead the victory over the Teutonic Order at Grunwald.
