Pontiac
1720–1769
Pontiac was an Odawa war leader associated with the Indigenous resistance to British rule around the Great Lakes after the Seven Years’ War. His siege of Detroit became the best-known episode of a wider, decentralised conflict involving many Native nations seeking to defend territory, diplomacy and access to trade.
