Historical person
Plotinus
205–270
Plotinus was a third-century philosopher and the principal figure associated with Neoplatonism. His teachings describe reality as an emanation from the One and emphasise the soul’s return through intellectual and contemplative ascent.
In non-fiction, Plotinus is discussed in Plotinus’s The Enneads. Plotinus’s The Enneads approaches the subject through social change and the pressures of ordinary life, religion, belief and institutional authority, and art, learning and intellectual life.
