Maud, Countess of Huntingdon

Maud, Countess of Huntingdon, was an Anglo-Scottish heiress whose marriage to David I brought the honour of Huntingdon and important English lands into the Scottish royal family. She was the widow of Simon de Senlis before marrying David.

Her inheritance strengthened David’s position in England and shaped the cross-border interests of later Scottish kings. Through her children, Maud became an important ancestress in both Scottish and English dynastic politics.
