Lu Xun was a Chinese writer and essayist whose fiction and criticism made him one of the defining voices of modern Chinese literature.
His stories and polemical essays attacked social hierarchy, intellectual complacency and inherited moral conventions while influencing the cultural politics of the May Fourth era and later revolutionary movements.
