Lord Randolph Churchill

Lord Randolph Churchill was a British Conservative politician, briefly Chancellor of the Exchequer and Leader of the House of Commons, and father of Winston Churchill.

A younger son of the seventh Duke of Marlborough, Randolph entered Parliament in 1874 and became associated with Tory democracy and the “Fourth Party”. He served as Secretary of State for India and then Chancellor of the Exchequer and Leader of the House of Commons in 1886, but resigned after only a few months. Ill health and political isolation shortened his career.
